Excel Power Query & VBA Expert (Consolidation Template Developer)
Objective
We are seeking an experienced Excel Modeller and Power Query & VBA Expert on a contract / freelance basis for approx. 10-12 hours every week. Together with our group accounting experts, you will design, develop, and implement a dynamic, Power Query–driven Excel consolidation system that integrates local reporting packages into a centralized group consolidation model for multi-entity financial reporting.
The goal is to create an interactive, VBA-enhanced Excel application - a professional, audit-ready consolidation tool that automates data refreshes, validations, eliminations, and reporting across 10+ entities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design the overall data architecture and file structure for the Excel-based consolidation environment.
- Build the group consolidation workbook using Power Query, Power Pivot, VBA automation, and structured Excel tables through multiple iteration rounds together with our group accounting experts.
- Implement dynamic data imports from all entity workbooks via Power Query.
- Develop and automate consolidation logic (aggregation, FX conversion, intercompany elimination, equity consolidation) in collaboration with our group accounting experts.
- Create VBA-driven workflows and control macros , e.g. one-click refresh, validation, consolidation, and reporting routines.
- Develop reporting templates (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, eliminations summary) and automate report generation (PDF / XLSX export).
- Establish data quality controls and ensure a complete audit trail .
- Prepare technical and user documentation and conduct training sessions with the finance team.
Qualifications
Advanced Excel skills : Power Query, Power Pivot, structured tables, and dynamic named ranges.Strong VBA programming skills and ability to build automation routines that make the workbook operate like a small application.Basic understanding of group accounting and consolidation principlesExperience building multi-entity consolidation models in Excel, including FX conversion and intercompany eliminations.Knowledge of data structures , chart of accounts mapping , and foreign currency translation .Strong analytical, testing, and documentation skills with attention to detail and audit-readiness.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills in English.Why Join Us?
