General Manager – Sales

Industry : FMCG – Foods

Location : Chennai / Bangalore

Experience : Minimum 15+ Years

Age : Around 45 Years

Education :

Degree in Business Management from a recognized university

Joining Timeline : Within 60 days

Role Overview : We are seeking a

dynamic and result-oriented GM – Sales

with a strong background in the

FMCG Foods sector , ideally with the last 5 years in an aggressive food-focused sales environment. The ideal candidate would have grown through the ranks from a frontline sales role to senior leadership and now ready to lead large-scale operations and teams with strategic insight and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities :

Lead and manage overall sales strategy and execution across the southern region (Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh).

Develop, train, and empower sales teams from sourcing to orientation and delegation.

Drive achievement of ambitious sales goals with a sharp focus on execution at the ground level.

Design and monitor distribution strategies to ensure strong market penetration and channel development.

Build and sustain a high-performance culture across the sales organization.

Ensure strong coordination with marketing, operations, and supply chain for seamless execution.

Prepare and present business plans, reports, and forecasts to senior management.

Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and proactively adapt strategy.

Must-Have Experience and Attributes :

A pure FMCG sales background, with

hands-on experience in the Foods sector .

Proven track record of

handling business volumes of INR 100+ Crores .

Exposure to

sales & distribution challenges and their execution

at scale.

Strong leadership experience managing regional / state-level teams and sales operations.

Fluent in

at least 2–3 Southern Indian languages

and

Hindi .

Excellent people management skills, including hiring, onboarding, training, and delegation.

Highly disciplined, punctual, communicative, accountable, and street-smart.

Strong sense of

ownership, commitment, and business acumen .

Strong integrity and trustworthy leadership approach.
