MANAGER (DESIGN) - ELECTRICAL [Shipbuilding]

Support Head (Design Competency Centre) to run the Hull & Electrical Department for Defence Shipbuilding in line with the responsibilities as indicated in his job description

• . Coordinate and execute concept, basic and detailed design and support the requirements of all other departments.
• . Plan, distribute and monitor work load, responsibilities and deliverables of the department.
• . Plan & facilitate capability build-up to ensure availability of adequate trained design staff.
• . Ensure competitive design for bidding and assist business development in getting new business and growth areas.
• . Liaise with Customer (Owner), Class and Vendors.
• . Identify design houses and other agencies for technical collaboration and holding technical discussions for assessment of core competence, capability, capacity etc.
• . Implement continuous improvement plan in quality of design based on feedbacks from customer, class, production, QC and global trends
• . Develop best practices with respect to process and design.
• . Coordinate with all departments particularly planning , production, procurement and QC for ensuring availability of the correct design inputs at the time of execution
• . Interact with other verticals, groups and department of L&T to find areas of collaboration, design optimization, cost reduction and new business opportunities.
• . Deliver quality design and minimize the rework.
• . Deliver optimum and effective utilization of the resources distributed at different locations.
