Job Description
We are seeking a talented and experienced Sous Chef specializing in bakery operations to join our culinary team in Visakhapatnam, India. As the Sous Chef (Bakery), you will play a crucial role in overseeing our bakery department, creating delectable pastries and baked goods, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and creativity in our offerings.
- Assist the Executive Chef in managing daily bakery operations and staff supervision
- Develop and implement new recipes and menu items, focusing on both traditional and innovative baked goods
- Ensure consistent quality and presentation of all bakery products
- Train and mentor junior bakers and pastry chefs
- Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed
- Uphold strict food safety and sanitation standards
- Collaborate with other kitchen departments to create cohesive menu offerings
- Participate in menu planning, cost control, and budgeting for the bakery department
- Stay current with industry trends and incorporate new techniques and flavors into the menu
Qualifications
Culinary degree or diploma with a focus on baking and pastry artsMinimum 3-5 years of experience in a professional bakery or pastry kitchenPrevious experience in a leadership role (e.g., Head Baker, Pastry Chef)Advanced knowledge of baking and pastry techniques, including bread making, cake decorating, and confectioneryProficiency in menu planning, recipe development, and cost controlStrong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices, with current Food Safety CertificationExcellent knowledge of dietary restrictions and allergen managementProficient in operating and maintaining various kitchen and bakery equipmentStrong leadership and team management skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsCreativity and passion for creating innovative baked goods and pastriesFlexibility to work early morning shifts, weekends, and holidays as required
