We are seeking a highly skilled, Hands-on and experienced Principal Engineer to lead our technology team, drive our product development, and shape the future of our platform.

Role Overview

As the Principal Engineer of MachineHack, you will be responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the company, including the development, deployment, and maintenance of our Development platform. Your focus will be on MERN stack development, AWS deployment, and DevOps practices. You will lead a team of developers, ensure the smooth functioning of our platform, and contribute to the strategic growth of the company.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership : Lead and manage the development team, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of product features and improvements.

MERN Stack Development : Oversee the architecture, design, and development of our platform using MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js. Platform migration experience is an added advantage.

AWS Deployment : Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure on AWS, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security of our platform.

DevOps Management : Implement and maintain DevOps practices, including CI / CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring.

Strategic Planning : Work closely with the executive team to align technology with the company’s strategic goals and growth objectives.

Team Building & Mentorship : Recruit, mentor, and retain top engineering talent. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Communication : Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate across departments to drive business outcomes.

Qualifications

Experience : 7+ years of experience in software development, with at least 2 years in a team lead role.

Technical Expertise : Proven expertise in MERN stack development (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js).

Cloud Deployment : Extensive experience with AWS, including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and other AWS services.

DevOps Skills : Strong understanding of DevOps practices, including CI / CD, containerization (Docker), and infrastructure as code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation).

Leadership : Demonstrated ability to lead and manage high-performing engineering teams.

Problem-Solving : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering scalable and efficient solutions.

Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Education : A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
