Job description

Salary :

£ 25 000 to £ 35 000 per annum (circa ₹2.5m–₹3.8m per annum, depending on experience)

Location :

Mumbai - the role is remote, but living location must be in the state of Maharashtra

Overview :

An iconic, globally recognised consumer brand is seeking an entrepreneurial

E-Commerce Marketing Manager

to own and scale its direct-to-consumer (D2C) presence in the Indian market. This is a rare opportunity to build and shape an e-commerce ecosystem for a brand loved across generations, working at the intersection of digital, content, and commerce.

In this role, you will take full ownership of the

e-commerce strategy, digital marketing roadmap, and onsite user experience

for the Indian online store (Shopify-based), with a strong focus on growth, experimentation, and channel expansion. You’ll work closely with international stakeholders while acting as the on-the-ground business owner for India – turning brand demand into measurable digital revenue.

You will drive end-to-end performance across

Shopify, Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC), YouTube, and emerging channels (notably WhatsApp, email, influencers, and marketplaces) . This is a hands-on, high-impact position suited to someone who thrives in building, testing, iterating, and scaling – not just maintaining what already exists.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Own and drive the

overall e-commerce strategy

for the Indian market, from traffic acquisition and conversion to retention and loyalty.

Manage and enhance the

Shopify store

for India, including product merchandising, pricing updates, promotions, and content localisation.

Optimise the

end-to-end user journey , with a strong focus on mobile UX, site speed, navigation, and checkout conversion.

Develop, execute, and continuously refine

digital marketing campaigns

across key channels (email, WhatsApp, social, YouTube, influencer, affiliate, and paid media in collaboration with partners).

Use

Salesforce Marketing Cloud

to plan, build, and optimise email and lifecycle journeys, including segmentation, automation, and personalisation.

Explore, test, and scale

new channels

such as WhatsApp marketing, marketplaces (e.g. Amazon / Flipkart-style platforms), and influencer collaborations to drive incremental revenue.

Analyse performance using analytics tools (e.g. GA4, Shopify Analytics, dashboards) and translate insights into clear action plans and experiments.

Lead ongoing

CRO (conversion rate optimisation)

efforts – A / B testing landing pages, product pages, and checkout flows to improve KPIs.

Partner with fulfilment and customer service teams to ensure a

smooth post-purchase experience , resolving issues proactively and feeding insights back into UX and communication.

Collaborate with global and regional teams to align with brand guidelines while tailoring strategy and execution to the Indian consumer and digital landscape.

Build simple but effective

business cases

for new initiatives, channels, and features, using data to prioritise roadmap decisions.

Prepare and present regular performance reports, including traffic, conversion, revenue, channel performance, and campaign outcomes.

Stay on top of

Indian e-commerce trends , payment preferences (e.g. UPI, wallets, COD), and platform developments, and incorporate them into strategy.

Champion a

test-and-learn, entrepreneurial culture , bringing fresh ideas, challenging the status quo, and taking ownership of results.

Requirements :

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Business, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience.

4–6 years’ experience

in e-commerce / digital marketing with a strong D2C focus, ideally for a consumer-facing brand or fast-growing digital business.

Hands-on experience managing a

Shopify

(or similar) online store, including merchandising, promotions, and basic theme / content updates.

Proven track record of

growing revenue and improving conversion

through digital channels (email, social, performance marketing, CRM, etc.).

Experience with

Salesforce Marketing Cloud

or another enterprise-level marketing automation / CRM platform (building journeys, segmenting audiences, and running campaigns).

Demonstrable

entrepreneurial mindset

– comfortable owning a P&L-like responsibility, testing new ideas, and building channels from the ground up.

Strong understanding of

Indian e-commerce behaviours , payment methods, and mobile-first consumer journeys.

Confident with analytics tools (e.g. GA4, Shopify Analytics, reporting dashboards) and able to translate data into clear decisions and experiments.

Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to collaborate across time zones and functions.

Comfortable operating as both

strategic planner and hands-on executor

in a lean, fast-paced environment.
