Senior System Engineer - IT Infrastructure

Job Summary :

We are seeking a highly experienced and adept Senior System Engineer to provide critical 3rd level support for our diverse IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in managing and maintaining Windows and Linux environments, Active Directory, and virtualized platforms, with a strong focus on Veeam backup solutions. This role is crucial for diagnosing and resolving complex system issues, proactively monitoring infrastructure health, and driving continuous improvement in system management and automation to ensure high availability and reliability of all critical services.

Key Responsibilities :

• Provide expert 3rd level support and advanced troubleshooting for complex issues across Windows Server and Linux operating systems, ensuring minimal downtime and effective problem resolution.
• Diagnose and resolve critical hardware and system alerts escalated from our monitoring tools, specifically leveraging platforms such as SolarWinds to identify root causes and implement lasting solutions.
• Manage and maintain all aspects of Windows server roles and features, including but not limited to DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, Group Policies, File Servers, and IIS.
• Administer and optimize Active Directory services, ensuring proper domain health, replication, user / group management, and security configurations.
• Manage and maintain VMware virtualization environments, including vSphere, ESXi hosts, and virtual machine lifecycle management.
• Standardize on Linux server workloads, implementing best practices for configuration management, patch management, and security hardening.
• Drive and implement significant management and automation improvements for both Windows and Linux server environments, leveraging scripting and orchestration tools to enhance operational efficiency.
• Monitor, manage, and optimize backup and restore operations using Veeam backup solutions, ensuring data integrity, recoverability, and adherence to RPO / RTO objectives.
• Participate actively in system and security update sessions as part of lifecycle management, ensuring systems are patched, compliant, and performing optimally.
• Collaborate with other IT teams including network, security, and application support to resolve cross-functional issues.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
