About the Function

The Times of India is the flagship publication of Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. It is the world's largest English broadsheet daily newspaper and covers a wide range of news interests like political, business, sports, entertainment, lifestyle, etc. TOI is built on the key principle to question conventional wisdom and present a comprehensive perspective to the reader for the news around us. The TOI Editorial function is the driving force behind the generation of content that shapes the reader experience. With a focus on news and analysis, this function constantly endeavours to implement path-breaking ideas and drive value-creation innovations.

Roles & Responsibilities

The Legal Reporter will be responsible for reporting, analyzing, and writing on key legal developments, judgments, and policy matters affecting law and justice in India. The role requires strong journalistic instincts, a deep understanding of legal systems, and the ability to simplify complex legal issues for a wide readership.

• Cover major sessions and district court proceedings and key legal developments.
• Report on legislation, judicial reforms, landmark cases, and policy issues impacting governance and citizens' rights.
• Build and maintain relationships with legal professionals, court officials, and government sources.
• Analyze judgments and legal trends to provide contextually rich, insightful, and balanced reporting.
• Coordinate with editors to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to the publication's journalistic standards.
• Contribute to breaking news, in-depth features, and exclusive stories in the legal domain.
• Collaborate with digital and multimedia teams for online storytelling formats.

Education and Experience Required

Educational Qualification : Bachelor's degree in Law (LLB) is preferred.

Experience : 8–10 years of professional experience in legal reporting, court coverage, or legal analysis, preferably in a reputed media organization.
