About the Role : Division overview :
The Decision Support Unit (DSU) operates under the leadership of an Executive Group Manager, who reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer within Canberra Health Services (CHS).
The functions that make up the DSU are critical to the production of accurate, reliable and accessible information for CHS to use to inform both operational and strategic decision making.
There are seven teams providing expert advice or services across several key domains of the CHS system and operations :
DSU Objectives :
The Decision Support Unit provides analytical, business, and information support to all areas of Canberra Health Services. The unit aims to assist the organisation in achieving improved performance against the agreed organisational goals.
This is undertaken through a cycle of setting performance targets, monitoring and managing performance and providing actionable intelligence across multiple business domains where performance varies from expectation.
Support the DSU provides to CHS includes performance reporting, data extraction, funding revenue analysis, patient costing, benchmarking, research support, ICT and Health Information Services.
By providing expertise and services across the ICT, data and health information landscape, the DSU ensures access to meaningful, reliable, consistent, and sustainable information, thereby enhancing decision-making and to support the provision of high-quality health care throughout the organisation.
The DSU also provides supports the interface between CHS and the Digital Health Record (DHR) application.
Unit overview :
The Business Intelligence team drives and supports CHS business areas with operational and strategic performance and planning.
This is done through a suite of performance reporting in line with external reporting obligations for accountability purposes, as well as operational data reports and clinical benchmarking to evaluate and enhance service design and delivery.
Working with the various business units who have a variety of data literacy levels across CHS to enable their success in accessing timely, accurate data for their areas operational and strategic performance needs, as well as assisting research with data.
Business Intelligence also co-ordinates with Health and Community Services Directorate on external data releases, including media requests, ministerial briefings, national submissions, and federal funding schedule agreements.
Reporting to the Director within the Business Intelligence team in the Decision Support Unit (DSU), the Analyst will support senior executives, clinicians and staff within selected Divisions within Canberra Health Services through the provision of information about the operations of the health service.
This process may be used to appoint to future vacancies over the next 12 months.
