Job Overview :
We are seeking an L1 DevOps professional responsible for monitoring and maintaining the health, performance, and availability of servers and RDS instances during the night shift, ensuring timely incident response and smooth operations.
Roles and Responsibilities :
1. Server & RDS Monitoring
- Monitor CPU, Memory, Disk, Network utilization for Linux / Windows servers.
- Track RDS metrics : CPU utilization, Connections, IOPS, Free Storage, Latency, Deadlocks, Query performance.
- Check CloudWatch dashboards / alarms or any monitoring tools like Datadog, Grafana, Zabbix, Nagios.
2. Incident Management
Respond to alerts during night shift and perform first-level troubleshooting.Restart services, check logs, validate connectivity, and apply temporary fixes where required.Create incident tickets and escalate to relevant teams (DBA, DevOps, Infra) when needed.3. Performance Analysis
Analyze resource spikes, slow queries, or abnormal behavior.Perform trend analysis and share daily performance reports.Recommend optimization (instance resize, storage upgrade, index suggestions—basic level).4. Backup & Maintenance Checks
Verify RDS automated backups, snapshots, and retention policies.Check server patching status, scheduled maintenance windows, and backup job completion.5. Log Monitoring
Review application logs, error logs, slow query logs, and OS logs.Identify repeated failures or patterns during night hours.6. Security & Access
Monitor unauthorized access attempts, expired keys, or failed login attempts.Ensure compliance with access control procedures.7. Documentation
Maintain shift handover notes, incident summaries, and monitoring SOPs.Update runbooks for standard troubleshooting steps.Experience and Qualifications :
Experience with AWS RDS (MySQL / PostgreSQL / SQL Server).Knowledge of CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Nagios, Zabbix, or similar tools.Basic SQL knowledge for checking performance (slow queries, locks, status).Strong understanding of Linux / Windows server administration basics.Experience in incident management and ticketing tools (Jira, ServiceNow).Good communication skills for handover & escalation.Ability to work independently during night shift.Preferred Skills
Basic knowledge of AWS services : EC2, ELB, VPC, IAM, S3.Understanding of RDS failover, Multi-AZ, read replicas.Work Timings :
