Role Description

This is a part-time freelance / contract role in the AI / ML healthcare domain requiring 9+ years of experience. The professional will contribute to the design, implementation, and management of AI / ML models and solutions tailored to healthcare applications. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing data, collaborating with cross-functional teams, refining machine learning models, and ensuring solutions align with contractual agreements. This is a fully remote role, offering flexibility in work hours.

Job Summary :

We are seeking a highly skilled AI / ML Engineer to design, build, and scale

AI-driven solutions within our medical billing platform. The ideal candidate

will have hands-on experience with machine learning, natural language

processing (NLP), and generative AI (LLMs), along with strong software

engineering fundamentals. This role involves working closely with product,

engineering, and data teams to deploy production-grade AI models that directly

impact healthcare operations and revenue cycle outcomes.

Responsibilities and Duties :

Model Development : Design, train, and optimize machine learning models

for use cases like claim automation, document classification, anomaly

detection, and revenue prediction.

AI Integration : Implement AI / ML models into Zealie’s production systems

using scalable APIs and microservices.

Generative AI & NLP : Build solutions using LLMs for automating prior

authorization, insurance verification, and claims summarization.

Data Engineering : Collaborate with backend and data teams to preprocess,

clean, and prepare large datasets for modeling.

Performance Optimization : Continuously evaluate and improve model

performance and inference latency.

Collaboration : Work cross-functionally with backend engineers, DevOps,

and product managers to deliver end-to-end intelligent

solutions.Research & Innovation : Stay current with the latest AI

technologies, frameworks, and methodologies to integrate into Zealie’s

product suite.

MLOps : Automate model deployment, monitoring, and retraining workflows

using GCP AI / ML services or similar platforms.

Qualifications and Skills :

Experience Level : 7+ years of experience in data science or software

engineering, including 3+ years focused on AI / ML development and

deployment.

Core Skills :

Python, TensorFlow / PyTorch, Scikit-learn, NLP / LLM

frameworks (Hugging Face, LangChain, OpenAI API, Vertex AI).

MLOps Experience : Hands-on experience with CI / CD for ML, model

versioning, and serving (Vertex AI, MLflow, Kubeflow, or SageMaker).

Cloud Experience : Strong understanding of Google Cloud Platform

(BigQuery, Vertex AI, Cloud Functions, AI APIs).

Data Handling : Expertise with large datasets, SQL / NoSQL databases, and

feature engineering.

Software Development : Strong fundamentals in APIs, version control

(Git), and production system integration.

Communication : Ability to clearly explain complex AI concepts to

technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Self-Starter : Highly motivated and capable of independently managing

research and implementation tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have :

Experience with predictive analytics in healthcare or revenue cycle

management.

Knowledge of OCR, document AI, and conversational AI.

Familiarity with backend technologies (Java / Spring Boot) for AI service

integration.

Prior experience using Google AI tools or ChatGPT API.

Education :

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence,

Data Science, or a related field.
