Broad Function :
We’re looking for a hands-on hardware leader with a strong mechanical and product design foundation who
has taken multiple consumer or commercial hardware products from concept to market.
This role is not for plant or industrial engineers. It’s for creative mechanical thinkers who enjoy building
smart physical products — the kind people touch, use, and experience daily. From locker doors and
dispensing systems to portable kiosks and compact connected devices, you’ll lead R&D from idea → prototype
→ product.
Roles and Responsibilities :
Mechanical & Product Development :
- Lead end-to-end product creation — from concept sketches and CAD design to prototyping and
- production. Design enclosures, mechanisms, and moving parts for smart lockers, kiosks, vending
- systems, and compact consumer hardware.
- Ensure high-quality finish, usability, and durability — combining aesthetics with engineering integrity.
- Drive materials selection, DFM (Design for Manufacturability), and vendor development for sheet metal,
- molded plastic, and hybrid assemblies.
R&D & Innovation :
Convert ideas into working prototypes using rapid prototyping, 3D printing, and mockups.Experiment with new technologies such as vision modules, smart sensors, and compact actuators.Lead mechanical innovation for form, function, and ergonomics.Bridge industrial design with engineering for products that look as good as they perform.System Integration :
Collaborate with electronics, firmware, and software teams to integrate sensors, cameras, andconnectivity hardware.Solve thermal, structural, and space constraints for compact designs.Leadership & Execution :
Build and lead a mechanical and hardware R&D team.Manage prototyping vendors, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.Quality & Compliance :
Oversee testing, reliability, and certifications (CE, FCC, UL, BIS).Maintain documentation, CAD archives, and revision control processesEstablish structured design reviews and validation cyclesDesired Skills : -
Must have 10+ years of experience in hardware or consumer product R&D, including work on devices, kiosks, or automated systems.Demonstrated ability to take products from concept to prototype to full-scale production.Strong mechanical engineering and product design skills, including mechanisms, enclosures, and structural components.Familiarity with embedded systems integration while collaborating with electronics and firmware teams.Proficient in CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent.Experience working with vendors and manufacturers in India or internationally. Background in developing consumer-facing or commercial hardware products such as appliances, vending systems, kiosks, smart devices, or retail hardware.Worked on connected consumer or IoT products (home devices, kiosks, or smart retail systems).Exposure to Jetson, Raspberry Pi, STM32, or ESP32 hardware integration.Understanding of ergonomic design, industrial design collaboration, and surface finishing.Experience with materials (sheet metal, plastics, composites) and mechanisms (latches, hinges, actuators)
