The Dental Hygienist plays a critical role in the oral health care team, primarily focusing on the prevention of dental diseases through education and patient care. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough dental cleaning procedures, including scaling and polishing teeth.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays as necessary.
  • Assess patients' oral health and gather medical histories.
  • Teach patients about proper oral hygiene techniques.
  • Apply preventive materials such as sealants and fluorides.
  • Assist in the diagnosis of dental diseases through examination and assessment.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
  • Respond to patients questions and concerns about oral health.
  • Keep dental tools and equipment sterilized and well-maintained.
  • Collaborate with dentists to establish treatment plans.
  • Monitor patient comfort during procedures.
  • Participate in community outreach programs promoting dental health awareness.
  • Stay updated with latest dental practices and techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Train and mentor junior staff or dental assistants as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited institution.
  • State licensure in dental hygiene.
  • Certification in CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Experience in a dental practice setting preferred.
  • Strong understanding of dental terminology and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a busy environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of dental software and electronic health records.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Commitment to continue education and professional development.
  • Strong ethical standards and professionalism in patient care.
  • Able to provide compassionate care to patients of all ages.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends if necessary.
  • Good physical stamina for standing for prolonged periods.
