The Head – MEP Design will be responsible for leading, managing, and overseeing all aspects of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire-Fighting) design and coordination across the company’s real estate projects. The role involves ensuring innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable design solutions that align with architectural intent, statutory requirements, and project timelines.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the end-to-end MEP design process , from concept to final delivery, ensuring alignment with project objectives, quality standards, and cost targets.
- Coordinate seamlessly with architectural, structural, and project management teams to ensure proper integration of MEP systems within the overall design framework.
- Review and approve design drawings, calculations, technical specifications, and tender documents prepared by internal teams or external consultants.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the MEP design team, fostering innovation, efficiency, and adherence to industry best practices.
- Ensure compliance with local and international codes and standards (e.G., NBC, ASHRAE, NFPA, IS Codes).
- Conduct site visits and design validation inspections to ensure that MEP installations are executed in accordance with approved designs.
- Liaise with external consultants, vendors, and contractors to resolve technical issues and optimize design efficiency.
- Oversee value engineering exercises to optimize cost, energy efficiency, and sustainability without compromising functionality.
- Collaborate with the procurement and project execution teams to evaluate MEP equipment and materials , ensuring technical suitability and commercial viability.
- Lead the implementation of BIM and digital design tools for enhanced design accuracy, coordination, and documentation.
- Prepare periodic reports and presentations for management on design progress, design risks, and key technical decisions.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Education : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or a related field.Experience : 12–17 years of experience in MEP design and coordination within the real estate or construction industry , preferably with exposure to large-scale residential, commercial, or mixed-use developments .Strong expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire-fighting systems design and integration.Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), and other design software .Excellent understanding of building services design principles, sustainability standards, and green building concepts .Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams , manage consultants, and deliver high-quality outcomes under tight deadlines.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsKey Competencies
