Who we are looking for :
We are looking for an expert SQL Server architect, developer, and database performance engineer in an Azure environment. We would prefer candidates with the combination of SQL database performance engineering, T-SQL development, automation, administration, and Oracle to SQL Server migration skills, where the candidate will be responsible for identifying performance bottlenecks and performing query rewriting / tuning in Azure on SQL VM in IaaS and Azure SQL database. Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of SQL Server database internals and database design patterns and be able to provide insightful problem -solving.
What you will be responsible for as a Senior Azure data architect and performance engineer, will :
- Ensure the availability and optimization of MSSQL 2017, 2019, and 2022 in IaaS SQL VM in Azure. Experience with Azure SQL Database and Managed Instance in Azure. Snowflake experience is a big plus!
- Expert level experience with T-SQL and PowerShell automation.
- Monitor performance on application databases and queries and suggest / apply continuous tuning.
- The responsibilities include working closely with application teams and clients for tuning / rewriting queries for achieving optimal performance and experience with the Query Store, Extended Events, and other third-party tools.
- Must have experience in tuning database instances and suggesting architecture-level changes.
- Responsible for conducting POCs on new custom requirements with Platform Engineering, coming up with standards to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security, and performance.
- Perform reviews on the design and code frequently to ensure the site standards are being adhered to.
- Experience with Oracle to SQL Server migration in Azure Cloud is highly preferred.
- Assist in resolving priority incidents to quickly eliminate impacts, participate in root-cause analysis, and support subsequent corrective and preventative actions.
- Work closely with the SaaS Data team and the Onboarding team during the client
implementation phase, collaborating with various application support and engineering teams to optimize database performance and reliability.
Senior Database Performance Engineers are encouraged and supported to acquire relevant Azure certifications (e.g., DP-300, DP-900, and AZ-900 exams).Education & Preferred Qualifications :
Bachelors degree in computer science (or a related technical field).10-12 years of experience working with large MS SQL Server 2019, 2022 databases and Snowflake.Good performance tuning experience, using all available tools like SolarWinds, Query Store, and Extended Events, and methods to investigate and make recommendations and rewrite to improve slow-performing queries and procedures at the database and server level.10+ years of hands-on experience operating MS SQL servers and related technologies in Azure.Very good understanding of database encryption, high availability, disaster recovery, database replication, and backup / restore.Must be detail oriented. have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be an aggressive self-starter.A strong sense of customer service, attention to detail, and issue of ownership.Understanding ITIL concepts is desired.(ref : hirist.tech)
