About the Position
The Graphic Designer for Economic Times will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and delivering visually engaging layouts, illustrations, infographics, and creative assets. The role demands a strong understanding of design principles, editorial requirements, and brand guidelines to produce high-quality visuals that enhance storytelling and reader engagement.
Areas of Responsibility
- Layout Design :
- Design and create sophisticated, visually appealing layouts for print publications that optimize space and hierarchy.
- Develop creative solutions for organizing and presenting content in a clear and compelling manner.
- Ensure layouts align with editorial goals, enhance readability, and maintain aesthetic consistency.
- Graphic Design Excellence :
- Execute high-quality graphic design work, including infographics, charts, illustrations, and other visual elements.
- Incorporate typography, colour theory, and composition principles to enhance visual impact and storytelling.
- Collaboration and Communication :
- Collaborate closely with editors, writers, and other stakeholders to understand content requirements and translate them into effective design solutions.
- Communicate design concepts and rationale effectively, incorporating feedback and iterating on designs as necessary.
- Project Management :
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, adhering to deadlines and ensuring timely delivery of finished layouts and graphics.
- Coordinate with printing and production teams to ensure final designs meet technical requirements for print publication.
- Quality Assurance :
- Conduct thorough quality checks on all designs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines and print specifications.
- Stay updated on design trends, software advancements, and industry best practices to continually improve design quality and efficiency.
Educational Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Visual Arts, or related field.
