The Role
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be the key executive responsible for the efficiency, effectiveness, and scalability of SupaTutor's daily operations. This role is responsible for translating the company's strategic vision into world-class execution across all business units, ensuring that the platform's value proposition (AI tools, leads, and training) is delivered flawlessly to our tutors and students.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record of scaling high-growth EdTech, SaaS, or marketplace platforms, with a strong focus on operational excellence, technology integration, and customer (tutor) success.
Key Responsibilities 1. Operational Excellence & Scaling
- Design, implement, and monitor robust operational processes and systems that support rapid, sustainable company growth (scaling the tutor base, student leads, and platform usage).
- Oversee the day-to-day execution of the business, ensuring cross-functional alignment between Product, Technology, Teacher Success, Sales (Lead Generation), and Finance.
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational metrics across the organization to drive accountability and continuous improvement.
2. Product and Technology Integration
Work closely with the Product and Engineering teams to ensure the AI-Powered Teaching Platform development aligns with operational needs and market feedback.Optimize the delivery and integration of core platform features (e.g., content generation, auto-grading, live class tools) to enhance the tutor experience and retention.Ensure technical infrastructure is stable and scalable to support increasing tutor and student loads.3. Teacher Success & Lead Generation Engine
Directly manage or heavily influence the Lead Generation Service and the Teacher Success / Onboarding teams.Optimize the funnel from lead acquisition to tutor-student conversion and long-term retention, ensuring high-quality, exclusive lead distribution.Oversee the Teacher Training Course and Freelance LaunchPad programs, ensuring curriculum quality, mentor performance, and high tutor completion rates leading to successful placements and income growth.4. Financial Performance & People Management
Manage the company's P&L in partnership with the CEO and Finance team, focusing on optimizing Cost of Acquisition (CAC) for both students and tutors, and maximizing Lifetime Value (LTV).Lead, mentor, and build a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of ownership, data-driven decision-making, and continuous learning.Manage people operations, including recruiting, training, and retention strategies to meet the organization's scaling needs.Required Qualifications and Experience
3+ years of progressive leadership experienceProven ability to manage complex, multi-sided operations (e.g., managing the supply side—tutors—and the demand side—students / leads).Deep familiarity with technology implementationDemonstrated experience in scaling customer / client success operations (in this case, Tutor Success ) to drive high retention and loyalty.Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse teams.Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; an MBA or equivalent is highly preferred.
