Job Summary : The
Area Sales Manager (ASM)
will be responsible for achieving sales and distribution targets for
VRLA
and
Lithium-Ion batteries
in
Karnataka
through effective management of
channel partners (distributors, dealers, retailers)
and
institutional customers
(OEMs, system integrators, corporates, government accounts, and large end users).
This role demands a strong understanding of both the
traditional lead-acid battery market
and the
emerging lithium battery applications
(UPS, Solar, Telecom, EV, ESS). The ASM will drive sales growth, channel expansion, and ensure high market share for the company’s products within the state.
Key Responsibilities :
Sales Achievement & Business Development
Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual
sales targets
for both channel and institutional business in Karnataka.
Plan and execute area sales strategies for revenue growth, profitability, and market expansion.
Identify new business opportunities across
UPS, solar, inverter, telecom, EV, and industrial battery
segments.
Ensure proper product mix between VRLA and Lithium product lines based on market demand.
Drive
primary and secondary sales
through existing distributors and dealers.
2. Channel Management
Appoint, develop, and manage
distributors, dealers, and retailers
across key districts of Karnataka.
Implement structured coverage plans to ensure adequate channel presence in urban, semi-urban, and rural markets.
Ensure availability, visibility, and timely supply of products across the channel.
Regularly review channel performance, manage stock levels, collections, and credit compliance.
Conduct
channel partner training, product demos, and dealer meets
to build loyalty and engagement.
Implement trade schemes, incentives, and promotional programs effectively.
3. Institutional / Key Account Sales
Identify and acquire
institutional clients
such as :
OEMs (UPS, Solar, EV, Power Backup)
System Integrators
Government & Public Sector Units (PSUs)
Corporate & Industrial customers
Prepare and submit quotations, tenders, and technical proposals.
Negotiate pricing, terms, and commercial agreements in alignment with company policy.
Manage relationships with existing institutional clients to ensure repeat business and timely payments.
Coordinate with the technical and service teams to meet specific customer requirements and ensure post-sales support.
4. Market Intelligence & Competition Tracking
Continuously monitor competitor activities — pricing, schemes, new product launches, dealer policies, and regional presence.
Gather market feedback on product performance and customer satisfaction.
Provide regular MIS reports on sales trends, opportunities, and challenges.
Recommend local marketing initiatives and dealer activations to enhance visibility.
5. Operational & Administrative Responsibilities
Prepare monthly and quarterly
sales forecasts
for the area and ensure timely reporting.
Coordinate with
logistics, supply chain, and accounts
to ensure smooth order fulfilment and collection.
Ensure compliance with company processes, documentation, and audit norms.
Manage expenses and travel budgets within approved limits.
Maintain updated CRM records of customers, prospects, and channel partners.
6. Cross-functional Coordination
Work closely with the
Marketing
team for brand promotion, campaigns, and regional events.
Liaise with the
Service
team for warranty claims, product issues, and customer satisfaction.
Collaborate with
Product Management
for feedback on market needs, features, and competitive benchmarking.
Qualifications & Skills :
Graduate in Engineering, Science, or Commerce.
MBA in Marketing or Sales preferred.
5–10 years of sales experience
in
battery, inverter, solar, electrical, or power electronics
industries.
Proven track record in
channel sales management
and
institutional / B2B sales .
Experience handling Karnataka or South India markets is highly desirable.
Working knowledge of
VRLA and Lithium-ion technologies
will be a strong advantage.
Proficiency in MS Office, ERP / CRM tools, and data reporting.
Strong communication and negotiation skills (English, Kannada, and Hindi).
Excellent relationship management and partner engagement abilities.
Self-driven, result-oriented, and capable of working independently.
Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
High integrity, discipline, and accountability.
Willingness to travel extensively across the state.
