Job description

Principal Purpose of Job : The Medical Coder is responsible for accurately translating medical documentation into standardized codes, playing a crucial role in Cotiviti's mission to improve healthcare economics. This position ensures the integrity of health information used for claims processing, risk adjustment, quality reporting, and data analysis.

Job Responsibilities :

Accurately assign ICD, CPT, HCPCS , and DRG codes based on clinical documentation.
Review and interpret patient medical records, including physician notes, operative reports, and diagnostic results.
Ensure coding compliance with industry standards, government regulations, and client-specific guidelines.
Collaborate with internal teams to clarify documentation and support accurate coding.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, conventions, and regulations.
Participate in quality assurance activities and contribute to process improvements.
Identify and report coding discrepancies or issues as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in any stream (preferably Life Science ).

Certified Professional Coder (CPC) from the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) is preferred.

Knowledge of HCPCS, ICD, CPT , and DRG .

Knowledge of ICD-10 coding is preferred.

Ability to work from the office environment.
