Job Summary :
The CFO will lead the financial strategy, planning, and risk management
functions of the Microfinance Institution. The role is responsible for ensuring
strong financial governance, regulatory compliance (RBI / NBFC-MFI
guidelines), efficient fund management, and sustainable financial growth.
The CFO will work closely with the Board and CEO to drive the
organization’s long-term financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Strategy & Planning
Develop and implement long-term financial strategies aligned with
business goals.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling for portfolio
growth.
Provide financial insights to the Board / Management for decision-
making.
2. Regulatory Compliance & Governance
Ensure 100% compliance with RBI, NBFC-MFI regulations, statutory
guidelines, and internal policies.
Oversee statutory audits, internal audits, and regulatory inspections.
Ensure accurate and timely submission of RBI returns and compliance
reports.
3. Financial Reporting & Controls
Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements as per IND-
AS.Strengthen internal control mechanisms to avoid operational and
financial risks.Maintain transparency and accuracy in accounting & reporting systems.
4. Fund Management & Treasury
Manage bank relationships, lenders, and investors for fundraising (term
loans, NCDs, securitisation, co-lending).
Optimize liquidity, capital structure, and working capital.
Monitor cost of funds, leverage ratios, and ALM (Asset-Liability
Management).
5. Risk Management
Identify financial and operational risks and develop mitigation
strategies.
Ensure effective credit risk, operational risk, and market risk monitoring.
Support risk frameworks aligned with growth plans of the MFI.
6. Business Support & Strategy
Partner with business teams to support branch expansion, product
launches, and digital initiatives.
Contribute to pricing decisions, portfolio quality, and profitability
improvement measures.
Drive cost optimization and financial efficiency across the institution.
7. Leadership & Team Management
Lead the finance, accounts, compliance, treasury, and audit teams.
Build strong financial discipline across the organisation.
Engage with Board Members, statutory bodies, and rating agencies.
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of MFI operations, JLG / individual lending models,
and NBFC-MFI framework.
Expertise in financial management, IND-AS, and regulatory compliance.
Strong analytical and strategic planning capability.
Experience in fundraising, treasury management, and investor
relations.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management
skills.
