Summary
Join Tata Electronics to integrate and scale equipment-level automation for India’s first advanced semiconductor fabrication facility. As an Equipment Automation Engineer, you will bring up tool communication, implement SEMI-standard interfaces, and enable reliable data collection and recipe control that power factory systems (MES / CIM) and process-control analytics (APC / FDC / SPC). Your work ensures high tool uptime, stable operations, and seamless integration; setting global benchmarks for equipment automation in India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate fab equipment with factory systems using SEMI standards :
- SECS / GEM, GEM300 (HSMS, equipment state models, carrier / wafer handling, alarms / events, SVIDs)
- EDA (Interface A) for high-frequency data collection (e.g., SEMI E120 / E125 / E134 / E164)
- Build and maintain equipment drivers / adapters, event / alarm mapping, and data collection plans for MES / CIM, FDC / SPC, and YMS consumption.
- Collaborate on dispatching / wafer flow logic with MES / RTD / MCS; validate equipment responses to factory commands.
- Use simulators and vendor test tools for FAT / SAT (Factory / Site Acceptance Test) and tool bring-up; maintain automated test suites for regressions.
Operational Support
Ensure high uptime and reliability of tool interfaces; support 24×7 operations via on-call rotation.Troubleshoot equipment automation issues across hardware (IO, load ports, RFID / barcode, sensors) and software (protocols, drivers, OS services, network) layers.Monitor data transfers and performance of EDA / SECS streams; tune collection rates, buffering, and retention.Maintain configuration, patching, and version control for equipment adapters and scripts; follow PCRB change control.Create and maintain documentation : interface specifications, event maps, OCAP hooks, validation protocols, and runbooks.Participate in shift handovers and daily operations meetings; provide concise status, incident reports, and action plans.Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Partner with Manufacturing, Process, Quality, Automation, and IT teams to stabilize processes and improve throughput / yield.Enable and enhance FDC / SPC / APC R2R by improving signal fidelity, latency, and coverage from equipment.Share lessons learned, drive root cause analysis (RCA), and implement durable fixes at the tool and system levels.Contribute to cross-functional initiatives that reduce cycle time, minimize excursions, and increase OEE.Essential Skills & Attributes
Strong programming skills in C#, C++, Java, Python, and SQL (equipment adapters, services, test automation).Proficiency in troubleshooting across networking (TCP / IP), OS (Windows / Linux), processes / services, logs, and equipment controllers.Experience with database performance tuning (Oracle, SQL Server) and message queues.Practical problem-solving under pressure; strong sense of ownership in operational support.Proactive in RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and long-term corrective actions; clear communicator across functional teams.Adaptability to dynamic cleanroom environments; excellent time management to handle multiple priorities.Educational Qualification
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics / Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or Mechanical Engineering.Preferred Experience
Semiconductor fab experience with equipment integration for front-end tools (e.g., etch, CVD / PVD, lithography, CMP, metrology / inspection).Hands-on experience with SECS / GEM, GEM300, HSMS, and EDA / Interface A data collection.Understanding of factory automation (MES / CIM, RMS, MCS) and tool operations (etch, deposition, litho, metrology, inspection).Exposure to FDC / SPC / APC R2R, RMS, YMS, QMS ecosystems.Familiarity with DevOps tools (Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes) and scripting for deployment / monitoring.
