The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will be a pivotal member of the management team, responsible for shaping and executing the financial strategy, governance, and compliance framework of Marcellus. This role demands deep expertise in finance, regulatory compliance, risk governance, and stakeholder engagement to drive sustainable growth and institutional trust.
KEY ROLES & & Financial Leadership :
- Define and implement financial strategies aligned with business goals and regulatory mandates.
- Collaborate with the partnership team to drive capital allocation, investment decisions, and long-term growth.
- Deliver actionable financial insights to support strategic planning, profitability, and scalability.
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight :
Ensure full compliance with Companies Act, Income Tax, GST, FEMA, SEBI, RBI, and other applicable accounting and financial services regulations in India.Ensure full compliance with relevant accounting and taxation regulations for overseas branches and subsidiaries.Oversee SEBI-related reporting, disclosures, and filings (monthly, quarterly, annual).Lead regulatory audits, inspections, and governance reviews with robust systems and documentation.Serve as the primary liaison with statutory auditors, internal auditors, shareholders and compliance officers.Financial Management & Controls :
Lead end-to-end financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.Establish and monitor strong internal controls, MIS dashboards, and timely reporting to Board and regulators.Manage statutory reporting, including preparation and review of financial statements under Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS).Accounting, Taxation & Contractual Oversight :
Oversee and ensure proper accounting operations and bookkeeping, direct and indirect taxation filings, audit planning and closure, and statutory filings for all Group entities and branches.Ensure compliance with Indian taxation laws, Companies Act provisions, and Indian Contract Act (preferred).Ensure compliance by branches and overseas subsidiaries with relevant jurisdiction's accounting, taxation and corporate laws.Manage receivables, vendor payments, contract structuring, and execution of financial transactions.Be hands-on in execution when required, especially in accounting and reporting functions.Risk & Governance :
Develop and monitor enterprise risk management frameworks in accordance with SEBI / RBI guidelines.Ensure compliance with AML, KYC, and other financial crime prevention regulations.Support governance committees including Audit, Risk, and Compliance Committees.Technology & Process Automation :
Leverage IT solutions to automate repetitive finance and compliance activities.Drive adoption of ERP systems (e.g., Tally, Zoho Books) and ensure seamless integration with reporting tools.Promote digital transformation across finance operations for efficiency and transparency.Team & Stakeholder Leadership :
Lead and mentor finance, accounts, and compliance teams with a focus on capability building.Partner with business heads to ensure compliance-driven growth and operational excellence.Build trust-based relationships with investors, regulators, auditors, and external partners.FUNCTIONAL & BEHAVIOURAL KNOWLEDGE :
In-depth knowledge of SEBI regulations, investment funds, AMCs, NBFCs, and capital markets.Strong grasp of Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS), Companies Act, Indian taxation laws, and US accounting and taxation norms.Proficiency in financial modeling, valuation, investment structuring, and contract management.Hands-on experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP systems (Tally, Zoho Books).Understanding of automation tools and IT solutions for finance operations and prior experience of leading IT initiatives to reduce manual efforts and errors in finance and accounts function.High ethical standards, sound judgment, and decision-making under uncertainty.MINIMUM & PREFERRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS :
15 years of progressive finance leadership experience in listed / unlisted company or reputed CA firm.Minimum 7 years in a senior finance role in preferably in a RBI or SEBI-regulated entity (Bank, AMC, NBFC).Proven track record in financial statement preparation, tax compliance, statutory audit handling, tax and other regulatory audit handling, companies act compliance, treasury management and working capital management.MINIMUM & PREFERRED EDUCATION :
