Job Description – Head of Mechanical Design

Department : Engineering – Robotics & Product Development

Reports To : VP-Robotics / CTO

Role Purpose

The Head of Mechanical Design will lead the mechanical design function at Novus Hi Tech Robotics Systemz Ltd., driving innovation and excellence in designing and developing First-of-its-Kind (FOK) robotic systems and solutions. The role demands deep expertise in conceptualizing, designing, and scaling complex mechanical systems for advanced robotics, smart mobility, and industrial automation applications. The incumbent will be responsible for building internal design capabilities, developing vendor ecosystems, and ensuring flawless design-to-manufacturing execution at scale.

Role Outcomes

• Deliver Projects as per PO Timelines, Cost, and Quality – Ensure all mechanical design deliverables meet agreed project schedules, cost objectives, and quality benchmarks. Drive design ownership and accountability across the team.
• Build Capacity and Capability for FOK Design at Scale – Establish robust design frameworks, tools, and methodologies to enable scalable FOK product development. Build and mentor a high-performing mechanical design team capable of tackling complex, novel engineering challenges.
• Develop Reliable Vendor Partnerships for Build – Identify, qualify, and collaborate with manufacturing and fabrication partners to ensure design feasibility and production readiness. Create a reliable supplier ecosystem for rapid prototyping and scalable manufacturing.
• Ensure Zero Design and Manufacturing Failures – Implement comprehensive design validation, verification, and testing processes. Drive continuous improvement to minimize rework, downtime, and field failures.
• Build Respect for the Design Function – Position the mechanical design team as a strategic enabler within the organization. Foster a culture of technical excellence, creativity, and collaboration across R&D, production, and operations.
