To be able to carry out the Railway Track related design activities as allocated by the team lead
Responsibilities
- A proactive hands-on role in railroad track design projects
- Knowledge of the track design process through the conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases
- Development of ballasted and non-ballasted track structures, track alignment, profile, and associated grading plus drainage
- Assessment of rail vehicle / infrastructure clearances
- Liaison with other disciplines to ensure all work is completed to a high standard and with a consistent approach
- Calculation of quantities, preparation of cost estimates, project specifications and construction bid / tender documents

They would need to demonstrate the minimum capabilities that relate to the below –
Horizontal and vertical alignment design and reporting. Different modes (Light rail to freight) and different design stages (concept through to detail)Turnout design – both simple and complex design solutions.Clearance assessments, both for greenfield and brownfield and to understand the build-up of the kinematic profileAn understanding of track componentry and track fixing typesAwareness of maintenance principlesEstablish and maintain working relationships.Able to plan own work to meet project timescales and budgets.Able to communicate effectively with managers and other engineers in all disciplines.Software Competencies
Should have working knowledge of Microstation / AutoCAD / Open Rail DesignerConversant with the MS officeWorking knowledge of gauging clearance assessmentWorking Knowledge of ProjectWise or Similar software for handling of designsQualifications
Degree in Civil Engineering.Working towards, or willing to work towards professional accreditations.4-6 years' experience of rail infrastructure / engineering environment.Show more
