Role Overview
A Senior Manager – Business Development (BD) in an EPC company is responsible for driving strategic growth by identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities — often in sectors such as oil & gas, power, infrastructure, renewable energy, water, and industrial projects .
The role bridges technical, commercial, and strategic functions , ensuring alignment between client needs and the company’s engineering and execution capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Business Strategy & Market Development
Develop and execute BD strategies aligned with organizational goals.
Analyze industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging markets.
Identify and prioritize high-potential clients, projects, and geographies.
Client Acquisition & Relationship Management
Build and maintain long-term relationships with key clients (public & private).
Engage with government agencies, consultants, and project owners.
Conduct client presentations and technical-commercial discussions.
Opportunity Identification & Bidding
Track tenders, RFPs, and PPP opportunities.
Coordinate with tendering, estimation, and proposal teams to prepare bids.
Support in bid / no-bid decisions and negotiate contract terms.
Strategic Partnerships & Alliances
Identify potential JV / consortium partners for large or international bids.
Negotiate MoUs, NDAs, and teaming agreements.
Revenue & Pipeline Management
Maintain a robust business pipeline and ensure order book targets are met.
Provide accurate forecasts and reports to management.
Branding & Market Presence
Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and conferences.
Promote company capabilities and track record through marketing initiatives.
