Position : Environmental & Regulatory Manager

Location : Mumbai, Maharashtra

About the Role

The Environmental & Regulatory Manager will be responsible for ensuring adherence to environmental permits, EHSS regulations, and sustainability goals for GH2 / GNH3 facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Environmental Compliance & Management
  • Ensure adherence to environmental permits, EHSS regulations, and sustainability goals for GH2 / GNH3 facilities.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring, risk assessments, life-cycle analyses, and impact studies.
  • Develop and implement waste management, emission control, effluent treatment, and carbon reduction strategies.
  • Prepare reports for submission to environmental authorities and manage audits / inspections.
  • Lead ISO 14001 / 45001 implementation and continual improvement programs.

Regulatory Affairs & Policy Engagement

  • Track, analyze, and interpret evolving policies, standards, and incentive mechanisms for hydrogen and ammonia.
  • Support project teams in securing statutory approvals, permits, and clearances from relevant authorities.
  • Develop regulatory compliance roadmaps and ensure timely submissions / documentation.
  • Represent the company in regulatory consultations, policy forums, and industry working groups.
  • Advise management on opportunities arising from subsidies, carbon credits, and certification schemes (e.g., CertifHy, IPHE, BIS standards).
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with engineering, operations, legal, and commercial teams to integrate environmental and regulatory requirements across the project lifecycle.
  • Provide inputs on design and operational practices to ensure environmental sustainability and regulatory alignment.
  • Champion hydrogen / ammonia safety culture by ensuring HAZOP / HAZID and PSM practices are integrated with regulatory frameworks.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s / master’s in environmental engineering, Environmental Science, Law, Public Policy, or related discipline.
  • 6–10 years of experience in environmental management and regulatory affairs in hydrogen, ammonia, fertilizers, or process industries.
  • Strong knowledge of Indian and international environmental regulations, HSE standards, and hydrogen / ammonia-specific guidelines (ISO / TC 197, ISO 14687, BIS).
  • Familiarity with Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), and emission mitigation technologies.
  • Experience in regulatory compliance, permitting processes, and policy advocacy.
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Required Skills
