Job Summary

eBay is seeking a strategic, analytical, and people-focused Reconciliation Operations Manager to lead a growing team focused on ensuring the financial integrity of our payments systems. The role will work closely with the global Reconciliation Operations organization and leadership to ensure global process alignment, effective knowledge transfer, and joint ownership of reconciliation goals and standards.  This role combines operational excellence, data-driven problem solving, and people leadership, supporting both day-to-day reconciliation activities and advanced analytics including AI / ML anomaly detection .

This position is a great fit for professionals who have led finance operations or analytics teams or production support team , worked with big data platforms , and enjoy driving cross-functional outcomes in a fast-paced, highly visible environment.

Job Responsibilities

Team & Process Leadership

Manage a blended team of Reconciliation Operations Analysts and Reconciliation Data Analysts focused on transaction-level accuracy, data recovery and ledger control.

Works closely with the global Team and leadership to deliver on reconciliation operation goals

Oversee T+1 / T+3 reconciliation cycles across global payment processors, internal systems, and ledger platforms.

Drive SOP compliance and internal control readiness (e.g., SOX), including documentation for audit support.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with Engineering, Product Managers, Finance Controllers, Risk, and Compliance teams.

Review exception reporting and analysis with accounting.

Follow the SOP global recon teams created to ensure alignment on reconciliations and reporting standards.

Technical Oversight

Strong problem solving and issue investigation skill in production

Provide strategic direction for data automation , Python / SQL scripting , and Big Data analysis to improve reconciliation coverage and efficiency.

Review and guide implementation of machine learning models for anomaly detection, failure prediction, and reconciliation intelligence.

Required Qualifications

8+ years of experience in financial operations, reconciliation, data analytics , or payments ecosystems

4+ years of experience managing high-performing teams in a cross-functional environment

great team ability to work across multiple offices and time zones in a very diverse setting.

Strong tech background especially skills in SQL , Python , and familiarity with Big Data technologies (Hive, Spark, BigQuery)

Knowledge of accounting flows, journal entries , and reconciliation automation

Demonstrated understanding of AI / ML models (e.g., classification, clustering, anomaly detection)

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in e-commerce , fintech , or payments operations

Hands-on exposure to BI / reporting tools (Tableau, MicroStrategy, Power BI)

Proven ability to scale data-driven reconciliation solutions across multiple payment channels and geographies
