Senior GCP Data Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a results-driven GCP Data Engineer with a proven track record in architecting and delivering end-to-end data migration solutions. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience migrating complex, large-scale on-premises data systems (Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, etc.) to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and optimizing petabyte-scale data pipelines for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency.

As a GCP Data Engineer , your responsibilities are to :

Lead and execute large-scale data migration projects from legacy on-premises databases (Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, etc.) to GCP.

Design, build, and optimize scalable ETL / ELT pipelines using GCP services (BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Composer, Cloud Functions / Run, Pub / Sub, GCS).

Develop and implement data quality frameworks, real-time monitoring, and automated data housekeeping solutions.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, define migration strategies, and ensure seamless data transition with minimal downtime.

Architect and maintain metadata-driven frameworks for automation of archival, purging, and data governance tasks.

Build dashboards and reporting solutions (Looker Studio, Power BI) to provide visibility into migration progress, data quality, and pipeline performance.

Troubleshoot and resolve migration issues, ensuring data integrity and compliance throughout the process.

Mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices in cloud data engineering and migration.

Profile Requirements

For this position of GCP Data Engineer , we are looking for someone with :

6+ years of experience in data engineering, with at least 3 years focused on GCP-based data migration projects.

Deep expertise in GCP services : BigQuery, GCS, Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Composer (Airflow), Cloud Functions / Run, Pub / Sub, Looker Studio.

Strong hands-on experience migrating large-scale data warehouses and ETL / ELT processes from on-premises to GCP.

Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data modeling for cloud environments.

Experience with data quality management, performance tuning, and data governance in cloud settings.

Familiarity with Snowflake, DBT, and other modern data stack tools is a plus.

Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
