Role & responsibilities :
- The Chemist in an RMC (Ready-Mix Concrete) plant is responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of concrete production.
- This includes conducting chemical and physical tests on raw materials such as cement, aggregates, admixtures, and water to ensure compliance with IS, ASTM, or project-specific standards.
- The chemist performs tests on fresh and hardened concrete, including slump, workability, compressive strength, and setting time, and maintains detailed records of all quality checks.
- A key responsibility is developing and optimizing concrete mix designs to meet project requirements while advising plant staff on material selection and handling. The chemist collaborates with plant engineers to troubleshoot production issues and ensures proper storage of raw materials to maintain quality.
- Additionally, the chemist ensures adherence to safety and environmental regulations, manages chemical handling and disposal, and supports plant audits and certifications. They also provide training to operators on sampling, testing, and concrete handling best practices.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and expertise in concrete technology, lab testing, and quality management systems are essential. The role is pivotal in maintaining high-quality concrete, supporting efficient production, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
