The IT Support Assistant provides technical assistance and day-to-day support for hardware, software, and network systems within the organization. This role ensures the smooth operation of IT services by resolving user issues, maintaining IT equipment, and assisting in system administration tasks under the supervision of the IT Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Provide first- and second-level technical support to end-users via phone, email, remote assistance, or in person. Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot IT equipment including desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and other peripherals. Ensure proper hardware setup, driver installation, and connectivity across all user devices.
- Assist in user account administration within systems such as Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and internal applications—creating, modifying, disabling, and maintaining user accounts, permissions, and security credentials in accordance with company policies.
- Support the IT Manager in monitoring network infrastructure performance, including switches, routers, Wi-Fi access points, and servers. Assist in identifying and resolving connectivity issues, bandwidth utilization problems, and system errors.
- Coordinate and execute regular system updates and maintenance tasks, such as applying software patches, updating antivirus definitions, and ensuring the completion and verification of scheduled system backups and restores.
- Maintain and update IT asset inventories, including hardware, software licenses, and peripheral devices. Track asset lifecycles and assist in procurement planning, equipment deployment, and retirement / disposal processes.
- Log, prioritize, and monitor support requests using the IT helpdesk system. Ensure all issues are properly documented, resolved within service-level agreements (SLAs), and followed up with end-users for confirmation and satisfaction.
- Assist in the implementation and enforcement of IT policies, procedures, and security protocols, including password management, data access controls, endpoint protection, and compliance with cybersecurity standards.
- Provide end-user training and technical guidance on IT tools, systems, and best practices. Support onboarding of new employees by setting up their accounts, devices, and access to essential applications.
- Collaborate with the IT Manager and other team members on infrastructure upgrades, system migrations, and special IT projects. Participate in testing, documentation, and deployment of new technologies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the IT Manager, including emergency response, vendor coordination, and participation in IT audits or disaster recovery exercises.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS :
Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field.3–5 years of experience in IT support or helpdesk operations.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.Customer-focused and service-oriented mindset.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.Dependable, proactive, and able to work independently or in a team environmentSKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :
