Founded in 2010, Youth Organization in Defence of Animals (YODA) is a registered charity based in Mumbai, dedicated to improving human-animal coexistence. YODA aims to create a cruelty-free city by providing medical services for abandoned, injured, or mistreated animals, rehabilitating mentally distressed animals, and sheltering homeless or elderly animals. The organization actively promotes vaccination and sterilization to control the stray population and combat zoonotic diseases, such as rabies. YODA also focuses on education and raising awareness about animal welfare.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Paravet, located in Mumbai. The Paravet will be responsible for assisting in the medical care and treatment of animals, including administering medications, vaccinations, and first aid. Tasks involve supporting veterinarians during surgeries, monitoring the health and recovery of animals, and rehabilitating injured or abused animals. The Paravet will also aid in shelter support, ensure proper hygiene for animals, and participate in community outreach and awareness programs.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of animal care, veterinary procedures, and administering first aid
• Experience or skill in handling and managing animals in a professional capacity
• Ability to support veterinarians in surgery and assist with medical procedures
• Strong communication skills to educate communities and promote animal welfare
• Compassion towards animals and the ability to work in challenging situations
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain hygienic conditions
• Previous experience in animal welfare organizations or related fields is an advantage
• Formal training or certification as a paravet or veterinary assistant is highly desirable
