Sony Research is seeking highly motivated and self-driven researchers with expertise in language model training for machine translation between Japanese, English, and Southeast Asian languages (Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malay, Thai, etc.).

Key Responsibility :

Conduct cutting-edge research and publish results in top AI conferences or journals

Collaborate with an international team (using English as the main working language)

Work Location : Remote

Duration of the paid internship :

6 months starting July first week of 2025.

9 : 00 to 18 : 00 (Monday to Friday) fulltime.

Essential Education :

Ph.D. or Masters in Computer Science background or Bachelor’s with hands-on experience on Python with an applications in Language Processing.

Must Have Skills & Abilities :

Hands-on research in neural machine translation (NMT) and / or large language models (LLMs)

Strong experimentation capability (accountability, agility, problem-solving skills, etc.)

Passion about cutting-edge research

Smooth English communication

Good to Have Skills :

Japanese language and / or one of Southeast Asian languages is preferred.

Knowledge and prior project experience in reinforcement learning is preferred.

Papers in top-tier conferences like ICML, NeurIPS, AAAI, ACL, NAACL OR EMNLP etc.
