Job Description for Network Operations Engineer
Required Qualifications
- 6 years extensive experience in the support of Networking Technologies
- Strong technical decision making skills
- Advanced knowledge in the security of enterprise networks
- Advanced level Understanding of OSPF BGP VPLS and MPLS and various routing technologies
- Advanced knowledge and in-depth experience to troubleshoot all layers of the OSI model acting as the 2nd level of technical escalation during incidents
- Experience with NX-OS IOS SD-WAN PANOS or FTD
- Advanced knowledge and hands on experience with Palo Alto Firewall technology
- Knowledge of automation tools
- Working knowledge of monitoring tools like ThousandEyes and Solarwinds
- In-depth experience with security best practices.
- Strong working knowledge of SSL and VPN
- Able to work on assigned tasks with minimal supervision
- Advanced problem-solving skills with a desire to take on responsibility
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor.
- Strong ownership in continuous improvement identification and remediation of risks in technology / process with minimal supervision
- Able multitask and apply technology expertise to ensure deadlines are met
- Keen attention to detail in planning reviewing and executing successful implementations with zero defects
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Key Responsibilities
Support and maintain current network infrastructureCreate and maintain procedural and operational documentationProvide Tier 2 escalation support for the Network Operations Center providing resolution for complex networking issuesComplete Preventative Maintenance activities such as code updates & equipment updates following internal change controlIdentify opportunities for automation cost savings and service quality improvementsIncident Management Problem Management Change Management & Capacity ManagementCollaborate with peers to develop documentation for standard practices.Proactively research new technologiesManage assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.Respond to inquiries from client staff administrators service providers site personnel and outside vendors and etc. to provide technical assistance and supportSecurity & Audit complianceOperational-related Moves Adds Changes and Deletes (MACD)Adherence to Operational StandardsCompliance with Engineering Design Standards and established operational processesParticipate in the Development & Maintenance of operational documentation to include updating Engineering documentation changes due to operational changes escalation procedures & vendor contracts.Provide Root Cause Analysis for Network EventsDetailed analysis and peer review of change implementation plans identifying potential gaps in implementationOther duties as assigned by managementEducation / Certifications
