About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Purchase Engineer to manage procurement activities across multiple sites. The candidate will be responsible for vendor development, purchase planning, material tracking, and ensuring timely availability of resources as per project requirements. This role is crucial in controlling costs, improving material efficiency, and supporting smooth execution of site operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand project BOQs, technical specifications, and site material requirements
- Create purchase requests, obtain quotations, negotiate with vendors, and finalize purchase orders
- Develop and maintain a strong vendor network for civil, electrical, mechanical, and MS structural materials
- Track material procurement schedules to align with project timelines
- Coordinate with site teams for timely delivery, reconciliation, and consumption tracking
- Maintain purchase records, agreements, delivery notes, pricing and cost comparisons
- Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, price, delivery, and service
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and budget approvals
- Liaise with accounts for timely vendor payments and resolve invoicing issues
- Support implementation of digital purchase tracking systems and process standardization
Required Qualifications & Skills
Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related discipline5–7 years of experience in procurement (preferred exposure to construction / MEP / elevator industry)Strong knowledge of construction materials, market rates & vendor sourcingGood negotiation and communication skillsProficiency in MS Excel, Google Sheets, and ERP / Procurement toolsAbility to manage multiple orders and deliver within deadlinesStrong analytical and documentation skillsPreferred Competencies
