Design Engineer

Job Title : Design Engineer – Bus Body Building

Reporting To Plant Head / Operation Manager / Production Manager.

Location :   Panamkuzhy (Kombanad - Ernakulam)

Neeleshwaram (Kalady - Ernakulam)

1. Core Responsibilities

• Bus Body Design & Layout
• Design exterior and interior layouts of buses (school, city, staff, luxury, sleeper, etc.).
• Develop 2D / 3D models using CAD software (like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Siemens NX).GD &T, Free hands Sketching, FEA.
• Ensure the design fits with different chassis from OEMs (Tata, Ashok Leyland, Eicher, Bharat Benz, etc.).
• Structural Design
• Design and validate body frame structure (mild steel, aluminium, or stainless steel).
• Analyse load-bearing members, roof strength, roll-over protection (R66 compliance).
• Material Selection
• Choose materials for body panels, seats, flooring, insulation, and interiors based on weight, cost, and safety.
• Regulatory Compliance
• Design as per AIS and CMVR standards (e.g., AIS-052, AIS-031).
• Incorporate safety norms like emergency exits, fire retardant materials, seat anchorage, etc.
• Documentation
• Prepare detailed engineering drawings, BOM (Bill of Materials), and welding / joint details.
• Maintain drawing revisions and release to production.
• Prototype & Testing Support
• Assist in prototype development and testing (fitment, vibration, noise, leakage, etc.).
• Collaborate with production and quality teams for design improvements.
