The role is focused on inspecting
subsea umbilical termination assemblies , ensuring compliance with
welding, machining , and overall mechanical quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities :
Inspection & Testing :
Perform mechanical inspections on umbilical termination assemblies including machined parts, welded joints, and structural fittings.
Validate dimensional accuracy using precision tools such as micrometres, callipers, and gauges.
Assess the quality of assembly processes including crimping, soldering, and cable routing as part of the mechanical scope.
Conduct visual checks and assist in evaluating test results (e.g., pressure tests, fit-up tests).
Compliance & Documentation :
Ensure alignment with applicable codes and standards such as ASME, API, and client specifications.
Record inspection data and maintain traceable documentation throughout the production cycle.
Raise and track non-conformance reports (NCRs); assist in implementing corrective measures.
Coordination & Support :
Interface with production, QA / QC, and engineering teams to resolve mechanical quality issues.
Provide feedback for process improvements and participate in audits as needed.
Support safe manufacturing practices and ensure adherence to project-specific requirements.
Qualifications :
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent.
Minimum 8 years
of experience in mechanical inspection within oil & gas, subsea, or industrial manufacturing sectors.
Knowledge of
welding processes ,
machining techniques , and associated inspection methods.
Certification in welding / mechanical inspection (e.g., CSWIP, AWS-CWI) preferred.
Experience with umbilical systems or subsea components is an added advantage.
Skills :
Strong understanding of mechanical drawings and GD&T.
Proficiency in using inspection tools and reporting software.
Solid grasp of manufacturing and quality control principles.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Physically capable of performing inspections in various working conditions.
Work Conditions : Based on a
manufacturing shop floor
and
outdoor yard
environment.
Involves physical activities such as climbing, lifting, and inspecting in confined spaces.
Though this position may involve interaction with electrical assemblies, the role is
strictly mechanical , emphasizing
welding, machining , and
mechanical fit-up inspection
as core competencies
