Role Overview

Leads the design, development, and optimisation of database architectures, ensuring data integrity, performance, and scalability to

support the organisation's data-driven initiatives.

Skills & Experience Needed

Highly Proficient in SQL and other database languages

Proven Experience in designing and architecting high-performance, scalable, and secure database systems to meet current and future

business needs.

Strong experience in leading the development of database strategies, including data modeling, schema design, and indexing.

Deep experience in troubleshooting and resolving complex database issues in production environments.

Proven experience in ensuring data integrity, availability, and disaster recovery through robust backup and replication strategies.

Ability to optimise database performance through query tuning, partitioning, and resource allocation

Proven experience as a Database Architect, Database Administrator, or similar role

Proven experience in leading critical projects, with a track record of mentoring and developing others

Deep Knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, and integrity

Experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and their ecosystem, using cloud native platforms, such as RDS, ECS, QLDB,

DynamoDB, etc.

Experience with data modelling tools (e.g., ERWin, Enterprise Architect)

Strong understanding of database structure principles

Strong leadership skills, with the ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Experience mentoring and coaching junior database engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, can effectively communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical

stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues.

Self-motivated and proactive, with a passion for staying updated with the latest technologies and industry trends.

Experience in driving technical vision for the database team, innovation, and continuous improvement in an organisation.

Professional Qualifications Needed

Relevant professional certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Architect, Microsoft Certified : Azure Data Engineer Associate) is a plus.
