Job Summary :
To effectively monitor mortgage underwriting activities, typical responsibilities in Australian mortgage roles include :
Evaluating client financials to determine loan eligibility.
Recommending appropriate loan products based on client needs and financial profiles.
Processing loan applications efficiently and accurately.
Ensuring compliance with lending regulations and internal policies.
Maintaining quality standards , conducting regular audits, and ensuring adherence to guidelines.
Providing constructive feedback and coaching team members to enhance performance and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities :
Conduct audits on mortgage underwriting cases
Evaluate adherence to Australian credit policies and lender guidelines based on SOP
Identify errors and trends in processing
Provide constructive feedback to underwriters based on audit findings
Conduct one-on-one coaching sessions to address performance gaps
Escalate potential risks or non-compliance issues to the TL.
Ensure adherence to NCCP (National Consumer Credit Protection Act), AML, and other regulatory requirements.
Maintain audit documentation and RCA log.
Prepare daily / weekly audit reports
Track individual and team quality scores
Requirements :
Graduate / Postgraduate in Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in mortgage operations, with at least 1+ year in a quality assurance role
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills, communication skills
Good knowledge of MS-excel skills (Analysis of data and reporting dashboards).
Ability to work in fast-paced environments and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills :
Certification in mortgage lending or credit assessment.
Experience with income types including PAYG, self-employed, rental, foreign income.
Sound knowledge of credit bureaus like Equifax (AU).
Familiarity with verification tools and fraud checks used in the Australian mortgage ecosystem.
Proficiency in tools like MS Excel and capable of doing basic root cause analysis, framing action plans, lean and Continuous Improvement) with good communication skills.
