Operational & Technical Accounting (O&T)

Accordion's global Operational and Technical Accounting practice delivers hands-on, execution-focused solutions that strengthen finance operations, enhance technical accounting accuracy, and support value creation across the private equity lifecycle We bring together deep operational expertise, strong technical accounting capabilities, and practical problem-solving to help clients navigate complex accounting & finance challenges with speed and precision.

We partner with Private Equity clients and their Portfolio Companies across diverse sectors, including but not limited to Retail, CPG, Healthcare, Media & Entertainment, Technology, and Logistics. O&T team members work supporting management teams to streamline core finance processes, upgrade controllership functions, accelerate close and financial reporting, support audit readiness, implement technical accounting policies, and stabilize the finance function during periods of transition or rapid growth.

Role overview :

The Business Manager in Accordion's O&T team will directly project manage client delivery and provide technical- and operational-oriented thought partnership to clients. (S)he will lead and manage project teams to ensure high-quality delivery across technical accounting, controllership, audit readiness, month-end close, and broader finance operations workstreams. The Business Manager will also identify opportunities for deeper client engagement.

What will you do :

Develop strong project management discipline across multiple finance and accounting workstreams, including detailed project plan tracking, risk identification and mitigation, quality review protocols, and alignment with client stakeholders.

Build hands-on expertise across core finance processes, technical accounting areas, and operational tools.

Support teams by preparing technical analyses, drafting accounting memos, performing process reviews, and guiding clients through execution challenges.

Engage in peer-level discussions with CFOs, Controllers, and other executives, serving as a trusted advisor on operational and technical accounting matters.

Develop a deep understanding of the client's financial and operational challenges, proactively identifying process gaps, compliance risks, and value-creation opportunities across close, reporting, controls, and accounting practices. Translate these insights into structured, actionable recommendations.

Lead and develop team members, ensuring strong coaching, technical upskilling, and growth opportunities.

Ideally, you should have :

Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related fields from reputable institutions.

Professional qualifications such as a Chartered Accountant designation and / or MBA in Finance are strongly preferred.

Ability to interpret and apply U.S. GAAP, IFRS and other accounting standards.Should have 4+ years of full-time experience in accounting, audit, controllership, technical accounting, financial operations, or related fields.

Strong leadership and proactive communication skills to coordinate with project teams, client stakeholders, CFOs, Controllers, and PE sponsors.

Experience in client-facing or professional services environments (audit, consulting, PE-backed companies) is a strong plus.

Strong technical and operational finance skills, including proficiency in Excel, financial statement analysis, month-end close processes, reconciliations, audit preparation, and familiarity with ERP systems; Visualization tools like Power BI; exposure to accounting research tools is a plus.

Contribute to thought leadership by proactively identifying ways to streamline finance operations and improve technical accounting rigor. Understand the client's pain points—whether related to close timelines, audit readiness, reporting accuracy, or compliance—and translate them into structured, practical solutions that deliver measurable business impact.
