Materials Planning Manager

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Materials Planning Manager to lead and optimize the materials planning function across our production and supply chain operations. This role is responsible for ensuring that the right materials are available at the right time, in the right quantity, and at the right cost to meet production and customer demand.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in material requirements planning (MRP), supplier collaboration, inventory control, and cross-functional coordination to support efficient and cost-effective operations.

• Develop and execute materials planning strategies based on production schedules, forecasts, lead times, and inventory levels.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels to balance availability and working capital. Implement strategies to reduce excess and obsolete stock.
• Collaborate with production, procurement, and logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate supply of materials for manufacturing operations.
• Oversee material planning within the company's ERP / MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards). Ensure accurate data inputs for BOMs, routings, and lead times.
• Work closely with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery, resolve material shortages, and improve supplier performance.
• Monitor and report on key metrics such as material availability, inventory turnover, service levels, and planning accuracy.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance planning accuracy, reduce waste, and increase operational efficiency.
• Manage, train, and develop a team of material planners or analysts (if applicable), fostering collaboration and accountability.
• Coordinate with procurement, engineering, quality, finance, and customer service to support overall business objectives.
