Job Description and Profile

Senior Underwriter (Property and Casualty)

Responsibilities

  • Assist as and when required in implementing underwriting strategicfunctions to grow the business and improve on risk appetite and risk selection;
  • Provide technical assistance with regards to risk assessment;
  • Prepare quotations and verify quotations prepared by other team members;
  • Review applications for coverage assessing risk levels on a casebycase basis and make recommendations;
  • Provide technical knowledge to junior staffs while providing technical coaching towards analytic underwriting reviews and decision making;
  • Analyse special cases and provide Underwriting Manager with a preview of the cases;
  • Prepare underwriting files for reinsurers / reinsurance brokers to settle on appropriate placements special acceptance and renewal terms of facultative reinsurance risks;
  • Monitor and generate renewal list by a set time frame and provide Underwriting reviews as per risk appetite based on customer profile and claims status;
  • Liaise with Claims department when reviewing terms for clients with adverse loss ratio;
  • Maintain set KPI to ensure continuity within underwriting operations;
  • Conduct portfolio analysis based on market trend and claims experience;
  • Prepare reinsurance apportionment on a PML basis for approval by Underwriting Manager;

Extracting data from the company s specialised software to produce statistical reports

Assisting in the review of pricing structure

Monitor / preparing loss ratio for each line of business and report to the Underwriting Manager

Review & update internal Policy Administration System (Front and Backend) regarding the underwriting parameters for underwriting portfolio management

Preparing of reports in view of the clients in our book for analysis purposes & decision making

Preparing of nonrenewal / cancellation letters based on clients claim experience

Profile

Knowledge of general insurance mainly Property and Casualty lines of Business

Knowledge of Insurance products and services

Familiar with Business insurance operations

Data Collection and Preparation

Microsoft office

MS Excel

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written in English enabling clear and concise communication.

Ability to work in a fastmoving environment.

Proactive approach to problem solving and positive and cando attitude.

Ability to work collaboratively with team members and other departments fostering teamwork and achieving common goals.

Experience in working on Policy Administration System Product configuration and Product development will be an advantage.

Experience in some basic and intermediate level of programming will be an additional edge

Required Qualifications and Experience :

Minimum degree Holder in Risk and Insurance

Candidate should be a qualified or partly qualifiedChartered Insurer of III (India Institute of Insurance or equivalent professional bodies)

Proficiency in Statistical software

Minimum of 5 years of experience in related field
