Primary Job Title : Patient Counselor

About The Opportunity

We are hiring an experienced Patient Counselor to join a busy on-site clinical team. The role is ideal for professionals who combine clinical knowledge and empathetic communication to guide patients through consultations, procedures, follow-ups, and administrative pathways while maintaining accurate records in electronic medical systems.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Conduct one-on-one pre- and post-consultation counseling to explain diagnoses, treatment options, procedures, and expected outcomes clearly and compassionately.
  • Obtain and document informed consent; ensure patients and families understand risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up instructions.
  • Coordinate appointments, referrals, and follow-up schedules with clinical teams and front-desk operations to maximise patient throughput and satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in EMR / EHR systems and prepare patient education materials and discharge instructions.
  • Handle patient queries and complaints professionally; escalate clinical concerns to physicians and nursing staff when required.
  • Support quality initiatives by tracking counseling outcomes, patient feedback, and adherence to data privacy and confidentiality protocols.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Diploma / degree in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, Allied Health or equivalent clinical certification.
  • Practical experience working in a clinic or hospital setting with direct patient counseling responsibilities.
  • Proficiency with EMR / EHR systems and clinical documentation workflows.
  • Strong command of English and at least one local language relevant to the location.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and data privacy best practices.
  • Ability to manage sensitive conversations and de-escalate anxious or upset patients.
  • Preferred

  • Formal certificate in counseling, patient education, or clinical coordination.
  • Experience in specialty clinics (e.g., fertility, oncology, cardiology) or high-volume outpatient settings.
  • Basic life support (BLS) or first-aid certification.
