The Senior LMS Administrator oversees the management, optimization, and support of the organization’s Learning Management System. This role ensures the LMS operates efficiently, provides an excellent user experience, and supports the company’s learning and compliance objectives. The Senior LMS Admin also leads system integrations, content management, data analytics, and user support while collaborating with cross-functional teams such as HR, IT, and instructional design.
Key Responsibilities :
System Administration & Configuration
- Oversee daily operations, maintenance, and performance of the LMS platform.
- Manage user accounts, roles, permissions, and group structures.
- Configure and test new LMS features, upgrades, and integrations.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and liaise with the LMS vendor or IT team as needed.
Content & Course Management
Upload, test, and manage SCORM / xAPI / AICC-compliant eLearning modules and other learning resources.Create and organize learning paths, catalogs, and certifications.Maintain course version control and archive outdated content.Reporting & Analytics
Develop and automate LMS reports and dashboards for learner progress, course completion, compliance, and engagement metrics.Provide insights and recommendations to improve learning effectiveness and adoption.User Support & Training
Provide advanced LMS support to learners, instructors, and administrators.Create documentation, FAQs, and training materials for system users.Conduct training sessions and workshops for course authors or departmental admins.Collaboration & Process Improvement
Partner with L&D, HR, and IT teams to align LMS functionalities with learning strategies.Evaluate and implement system enhancements or new learning technologies.Ensure data privacy, system security, and compliance with internal policies and legal standards (e.g., GDPR).Qualifications & Skills :
Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Education Technology, Human Resources, or a related field.Experience :
8+ years of experience administering an LMS (e.g., Moodle, Cornerstone, SuccessFactors, TalentLMS, Docebo, Blackboard, etc.).Proven experience with SCORM / xAPI content, LMS integrations (HRIS, SSO, CRM), and automation tools.Familiarity with content authoring tools (Articulate, Captivate, Rise, etc.) preferred.Technical Skills :
Strong understanding of LMS architecture, APIs, and data reporting.Proficiency in Excel, SQL, or BI tools for reporting and analysis.Basic HTML / CSS knowledge for content customization (optional but valuable).Soft Skills :
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.Leadership and mentoring skills for guiding junior admins or support staff.Preferred Certifications :
Certified LMS Administrator or equivalent vendor certification.Instructional Design or eLearning Development certification (desirable).
