Founded in 2010 by four compassionate animal advocates, Youth Organization in Defence of Animals (YODA) is a registered charity based in Mumbai dedicated to promoting humane human-animal co-existence. The organization provides prompt medical services to abandoned, injured, or mistreated animals, alongside behavioral rehabilitation for those disturbed psychologically. YODA also shelters and rehabilitates homeless and senior animals until they are ready for adoption or release. Its initiatives include vaccination and sterilization programs to manage the stray population and curb zoonotic diseases, as well as educational campaigns to raise awareness about animal welfare.

Role Description

The Senior Manager of the Animal Birth Control Centre will oversee daily operations, ensuring effective implementation of animal sterilization and vaccination programs. Responsibilities include managing a team of veterinarians and support staff, coordinating with external stakeholders, maintaining accurate operational records, and ensuring compliance with protocols and regulations. The role involves supervising the welfare of animals under care and coordinating community outreach initiatives to build awareness. This is a full-time, on-site position located in Mumbai.

Qualifications

  • Strong operational and team management skills with experience in leading cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of animal welfare, behavior, sterilization / vaccination programs, and related healthcare practices.
  • Ability to work in tough environments - ability to work with emotional people and sick animals
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in basic administrative tasks, record-keeping, and problem-solving in animal care operations.
  • Experience in a leadership role within the animal welfare or healthcare sector will be an advantage.
  • Bachelor's degree in veterinary science, zoology, or a related field preferred.
  • A passion for animal welfare and a commitment to the mission and values of YODA.
