Job Summary
We are seeking a Cloud Engineer who will provide support for cloud platforms, focusing on the delivery of new platform services (servers, databases, load balancers, storage, etc.) as well as support and maintenance of existing platforms. The Cloud Engineer will consult with our application development team and collaborate with a Cloud Architect on the design / architecture of new stacks in support of development efforts or for on boarding of vendor software products. Everything is done with an eye towards automation and efficiency; zero tolerance for manual workflows. This is a Full-time and Remote position.
Job Description
What You’ll Do
- Implement and manage IaaS and PaaS services in TE’s cloud platforms. Support / management scope are for core infrastructure services (servers, elastic load balancers, storage, Lambda functions, RDS, etc…)
- OS level support of Linux environments, including troubleshooting, responding to platform alerts, and change management (cloud server system admin responsibilities). Primary focus will be Linux, especially Amazon Linux
- Proficiency with bash shell scripting used heavily during EC2 instance bootstrap processes to install and configure software is a required skill
- Proficiency with Python used within Lambda functions required
- Proficiency with Ansible used within AWS System Manager’s, State Manager functionality required
- Utilization of AWS Systems Manager functionality : Patch Manager, Run Command and State Manager required
- Configuring virtual machines and dependent services in fault tolerant configurations (auto-scaling / utilizing load balancing / quick recovery / disaster recovery)
- Monitor and respond to CloudWatch alerts
- Assist with identifying areas for improved efficiency (automation) and resiliency / health of our cloud services. Assist with identifying areas where we can lower costs
- Maintain documentation and standard operating procedures
- Participate in team meetings and contribute with cross-team knowledge sharing
