Brief Description about the role :
The Vehicle Platform – Propulsion Team is seeking a highly skilled and analytical engineer to lead the development of data – driven Digital Twin model development for Electric Drive Units (EDUs). This role requires understanding of state-of-the-art modelling, machine learning, and integration with cloud / edge computing. The Senior Digital Twin Engineer will be at the forefront of building real-time scalable simulation environments, enabling predictive diagnostics and system-level optimization for Jaguar Land Rover’s next generation of electric vehicles.
Skills, experience and qualifications :
Essential :
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in engineering.
- Minimum 6+ years of experience in building mathematical models to emulate physical behaviour.
- Experience of developing sensor & data strategy, machine learning & deep learning frameworks.
- Researching algorithms and models in statistics, machine learning to tackle problems in the automotive world.
- Excellent programming skills : Python, C++
- Experience with cloud technologies : Dataflow, BigQuery, Spark, Apachebeam, AWS, Azure.
- Exposure to NV Omniverse, Azure Digital Twins etc.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong people skills and the ability to work individually and in a cross functional team.
Desired :
Familiarity with version control, collaborative development workflows and data pipelines (e.g., Git, GitLab).Exposure to AI / ML frameworks for data analysis, surrogate modelling, Edge ML libraries, CAE calibration, predictive maintenance and virtual sensing.Understanding of systems engineering “V” lifecycle and experience of requirement definition.Hands-on experience with data acquisition systems, signal processing, and validation techniques.Experience with digital twin platforms or real-time simulation environments (e.g., dSPACE, NI Veristand, Speedgoat, OpalRT).Basic understanding of electric powertrain technologies.Key responsibilities of the role will include :
Establishing backbone of data driven projects which can feed into different JLR businesses.Integrate digital twin models with vehicle-level frameworks.Apply machine learning and statistical techniques to enhance model fidelity and predictive accuracy.Support real-time simulation and control strategy testing in both virtual and hybrid environments.Document modelling assumptions, validation plans, and simulation workflows in accordance with quality and regulatory standards.Collaborate with systems engineering, control, hardware, and software teams to harmonize simulation and test strategies.Evaluating suitable digital twin technologies eg : NV Omniverse, Azure Digital twins etc.Responsible for training and guidance for the new team members.Validate digital twin models using hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) and physical test data.
