About the Role
Namasys is hiring an experienced AS / 400 Developer who can take ownership of both application development and Level 1 production support in a dynamic and remote-first work environment. The role requires hands-on expertise in RPG / CL development and a strong understanding of operational support workflows, including job monitoring, issue triage, and basic troubleshooting on the IBM iSeries (AS / 400) platform.
You will work on business-critical systems across industries like manufacturing, finance, and logistics, while also ensuring system stability and first-response resolution in live environments.
Key Responsibilities
Application Development
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain AS / 400 applications using RPGLE , Free-format RPG , CL / CLLE ,
and SQL / 400 .
Analyze business requirements, write technical specifications, and deliver code aligned with performanceand scalability standards.
Integrate with external systems and contribute to modernization efforts (APIs, UI upgrades).Perform code reviews, testing, and deployment in collaborative Agile environments.L1 Production Support
Monitor batch jobs , job queues, message queues, and printer files; resolve first-level issues proactively.Investigate and restart failed jobs, clear spool files, and perform basic corrective actions.Acknowledge, log, and triage tickets; escalate to L2 / L3 support as needed.Reset user passwords, unlock accounts, and perform basic role / user management tasks.Communicate status updates to business teams and maintain clear documentation of incidents and resolutions.Participate in 24x7 support rotations (if required, rotational).Required Skills and Experience
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in AS / 400 (IBM i) development and support.Expertise in RPG IV / ILE / Free RPG , CLP / CLLE , and SQL / 400 (DB2) .Familiar with tools like SEU , PDM , RDi , and job scheduling systems.Experience in L1 application or system support — job monitoring, basic troubleshooting, incidentmanagement.
Good understanding of production environments , SLA handling, and escalation protocols.Strong debugging skills using job logs, spool files, and system logs.Proficient in ticketing tools (e.g., ServiceNow, JIRA) and remote collaboration platforms (Teams, Slack).Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment.Nice to Have
Experience in AS / 400 modernization — APIs, UI enhancement, cloud migration.Familiarity with Agile methodology , DevOps pipelines, and code repositories (Git).Industry exposure to Manufacturing, BFSI, Logistics, or ERP systems .Interested candidates may share their resumes at hr@namasys.ai
