PostreSQL DBA

Key Responsibilities
PostgreSQL Administration
- Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL database systems across development, staging, and production environments
- Perform database performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning
- Manage database security, including user access controls, authentication, and encryption
- Execute backup and recovery strategies, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery capabilities
- Monitor database health, proactively identify issues, and implement solutions
- Upgrade and patch PostgreSQL instances while minimizing downtime

Technical Skills
▪ Databases : PostgreSQL (required), Cassandra (working knowledge), SQL
▪ Scripting : Bash (required), Python or other languages (preferred)
▪ Container Orchestration : Kubernetes (working knowledge), Docker
▪ Monitoring : Prometheus, Grafana, pgBadger, or similar tools
▪ Operating Systems : Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS)
▪ Version Control : Git
▪ Cloud Platforms : AWS, GCP, or Azure (preferred
Required Qualifications
▪ Minimum 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator across various database platforms
▪ Minimum 2 years of hands-on PostgreSQL administration experience
▪ Strong expertise in PostgreSQL performance tuning, replication, and high availability solutions
▪ Proficiency in Bash scripting for database automation and operations
▪ Working knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized environments
▪ Working knowledge of Apache Cassandra architecture and operations
▪ Strong SQL skills and database query optimization
▪ Experience with database backup and recovery tools (pg_dump, pg_basebackup, WAL archiving)
▪ Experience with database monitoring and alerting tools
▪ Solid understanding of Linux / Unix operating systems
