Core responsibilities
Accounting and reporting :
Oversee all accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and revenue recognition. Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements and support the month-end and year-end close processes.
Budgeting and forecasting :
Coordinate and direct the preparation of the annual budget and financial forecasts. Analyze and report variances between actual results and budgeted figures.
Internal controls and compliance :
Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions and reporting. Manage tax filings and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
Financial analysis and strategy :
Conduct in-depth financial analysis, track cash flow, manage expenses, and identify opportunities for cost reduction. Use financial information to develop a financial growth plan for the company.
Team leadership :
Manage and lead the finance and accounting team, which may include hiring, training, and managing direct reports.
Requirements
Qualifications and skills
Education :
A bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is typically required. An advanced degree or professional qualification like a Chartered Accountant (CA) is often preferred.
Experience :
Proven experience as a financial controller or in a senior accounting role, often with experience in the real estate or property sector.
Technical skills :
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and procedures. Expertise in accounting software, financial systems (like general ledger), and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are essential.
Soft skills :
Strong leadership, communication, and management abilities. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills are crucial. Experience with real estate-specific software like Yardi or MRI can be a significant advantage.

Requirements
