Copilot Administrator is an advanced IT professional responsible for overseeing the security, configuration, optimization, and advanced operations of Copilot in Microsoft 365 environments. This role requires both broad functional expertise in Microsoft 365 administration and advanced skills in automation, data protection, and compliance oversight, aligning with an “expert” or “senior” administrator profile.
Job Description Summary :
The Level 3 Copilot Administrator takes ownership of the deployment, configuration, management, and advanced integration of Microsoft 365 Copilot across an organization. This role acts as the technical authority on Copilot features, security, compliance, troubleshooting, automation, role / permissions management, and user enablement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead deployment and ongoing administration of Microsoft 365 Copilot, including architectural design, service optimization, and performance monitoring.
- Configure and enforce data security, compliance settings, and regulatory controls within Microsoft 365 Copilot.
- Manage privileged access, roles, and permissions using advanced tools like Microsoft Entra and role-based access control.
- Implement threat intelligence, perform security analytics, and conduct proactive threat hunting using Microsoft Defender and Copilot-integrated security features.
- Create, publish, and manage advanced data classification and sensitivity labels for compliance.
- Automate bulk administrative tasks using PowerShell and Copilot’s native scripting / automation capabilities.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex Copilot-related issues, coordinating across IT teams and with vendors as needed.
- Monitor organizational license assignment to maximize Copilot utilization.
- Provide technical guidance and training to IT and business stakeholders regarding Copilot feature adoption and governance.
- Participate in the design, testing, and documentation of Copilot workflows, integrations, and service enhancements.
Required Competencies
Demonstrated advanced expertise in Microsoft 365 administration, security, and compliance frameworks.Proficiency with PowerShell and automation tools for managing Microsoft 365 environments.Deep understanding of Zero Trust security principles, identity and access management, and regulatory compliance.Strong troubleshooting, change management, and incident response skills.Effective communication and collaboration abilities to deliver training and support across teams.Certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified : Administrator Expert, Teams Administrator, or Security Administrator preferred or required.Experience and Qualifications :
3-5+ years’ experience in enterprise IT administration with at least 1-2 years focused on Microsoft 365 and / or Copilot technologies.Experience deploying and supporting AI-driven automation tools in a secure, compliant enterprise setting.Prior involvement in large-scale rollout, license management, and endpoint security projects is highly desirable
